Our Projects

Regeneration
Since commencement of activities, TM Landcare has managed over 20 restoration sites including Contour Road (3 sites), Kalmia Court, Ohia Court, Cedar Creek (below the high school), Holt Park, Esme Street Environmental Reserve, Rosser Park, Manitzky Park, Millet Park and John Dickson Conservation Park and Arboretum.
Additional work has been carried out at our 4 school sites, Lions Park Guanaba Park, Brahman Reserve and a number of other smaller sites.
Landcare Centre
In 2014 the Landcare Centre on Hartley Road was established.
A lease from Council on a section of public land meant that a shed and greenhouse could be built. Further improvements to the land include planting native gardens, restoration of the creek and waterhole and educational signage. The centre is now a community space which is regularly being utilised by local residents.
Shelf Road Project
One very successful project has been the Shelf Road Richmond Birdwing Butterfly Project. This built on the establishment of 11 hectares of native forest by Energex as a carbon offset activity in 2015. In 2019, with a State Government grant, TM Landcare planted a further 2000 trees and 500 vines to provide an environment for the endangered Birdwing butterfly.
Privet Project
TM Landcare has a number of projects concentrating on Privet removal. These include Lions Park, Tamborine Mountain State School, Tamborine Mountain Showgrounds and Main Western Road extension.
Dickson Conservation Park and Arboretum
Sierra Drive, North Tamborine
The park is mostly flat, with a gentle slope to a creek bed. Mature trees, many of them labelled, shade the area of 3.5 ha. A picnic table and walking track invite visitors to enjoy the long-established rainforest of the park.
As you wander along the walking track which meanders from Freemont Drive to Sierra Drive you will see the blue inscribed labels with the botanical name and the common name of each species.
