Youngman Family Park, a long term Tamborine Mountain Landcare project, lies between Geissman Drive and Cedar Creek in North Tamborine. Since 2003, this park has received much attention from members' efforts, Greencorps teams and the TM Natural History Assoc.
This year, Jemena, a national private company, and Landcare Australia have selected TM Landcare Inc as project partners to further consolidate this project. We welcome this valuable funding and look forward to participating with Jemena and Landcare Australia in this project.
About Jemena and the Landcare Australia partnership:
Jemena is a leader in the management of energy infrastructure and the provision of energy related products. Jemena’s new “Vital Service, Vital Planet” ethic reflects its commitment to stakeholders, including the communities in which it operates and Jemena employees, and to protecting the environment. Landcare Australia is an apolitical and uniquely Australian partnership between community, government and business to protect and repair our natural resources. Since 1989 Landcare Australia has assisted the Landcare Australia volunteer movement to undertake thousands of community projects to:
- Improve farming practice and land management
- Conserve and rehabilitate waterways
- Re-vegetate native trees, shrubs and grasses
- Protect wildlife habitats and biodiversity
- Recover urban environments
- Restore resilience following drought, flood, fire and cyclone
Jemena has identified three primary objectives for their community partnership program:
1. Introduce the Jemena brand in multiple local communities 2. Enhance the reputation of Jemena in the communities we serve 3. Provide Jemena staff with hands on opportunities to support local program initiatives
Landcare Australia will meet Jemena’s primary objectives by providing pathways for staff involvement, interaction with the local community and exposure for the new Jemena brand through the “Vital Planet” volunteering program.
