Awards Presented at AGM
Maureen Booth was awarded the 'President's Award for Outstanding Contributions by an Individual Member' for 2008.

Maureen manages the membership register, attends a rostered shift at the bookshop and participates in the Botanic Gardens project. This is an enormous contribution and with each task, Maureen applies her fullest attention. Congratulations Maureen.

The award was presented by vice president, Cornelia Meesters, at the Annual General Meeting on Sunday, September 7th, 2008.

Other Piccabeen Awards went to the volunteers of The Piccabeen Bookshop in the category of 'Award for Outstanding Contributions by an Active Group of Members within TM Landcare'; the 'Award for Outstanding Contributions by an Active Group in Support of the Local Environment' was presented to Tamborine Mountain State Highschool Cedar Creek Project Group. Congratulations to the winners in this second annual presentation.

Annual General Meeting
The information packed meeting started with a momentous letter from former president, Jaap Vogel, read by president, Tony Lambert. Tony invited Jaap to comment as Jaap's presidency continued for part of the year. Tony Lambert proceeded with his own report which outlined the initiative and the acheivements of the volunteers who make up the organisation.

Special Resolution
Business of the meeting proceeded without comment and a special resolution to amend the constitution was moved. The special resolution allows for up to two vice-presidents. Tony Lambert made mention that this was his own idea to propose this motion to reduce the heavy workload for each executive member of the management committee. Currently the majority of office bearers hold full time occupations and it would be ideal for an extra executive member to share the many public representation duties. The special resolution was voted by ballot with the majority of votes in favour. An exception being that the Office of Fair Trading would be consulted to verify the voting on the next day. It has since been verified as correct.

Members of the management committee then vacated their positions and Maureen Booth read out all nominations which became valid immediately as all were uncontested. Alan O'Neill's nomination for the second vice president's role was unconfirmed until after consultation with the Office of Fair Trading. As this has now been cleared, we welcome Alan to the new role of additional vice president. Alan has offered to assist with representing TM Landcare in various community functions, substantially reducing the workloads on other members.

New Management Committee
The management committee members are now as follows: Tony Lambert (president); Cornelia Meesters (vice president); Alan O'Neill (vice president); Wendy Morgan (secretary); Tony Smallwood (treasurer); Dorean Erhart; Bruno Fiore; John Bestevaar; John Tiley; Brian Davison; Rebecca Castley. Welcome new committee members.

Tiles for Trees
The general meeting then followed with a special presentation by Barbara Smallwood. Barbara is experienced with community arts programmes which recently completed the commemorative tile display at the Mater Children's Hospital.

Barbara's presentation was to clarify the position of the Tiles for Trees project which has stalled due to reconsiderations about its viability. In the presentation, Barbara made note of the massive challenges in producing the tiles, and in addition the largest challenges are concerned with public safety aspects. The public safety requirements alone would add enormous costs to accomplish proper and safe risk management for a public monument. Tony Lambert advised that the new management committee will decide final recommendations on the project.

Digital Mapping
Rebbecca Castley presented the indepth tasks accomplished by the digital mapping project. While thanking the contributors, including funds from Norman Wettenhall Foundation, support from SEQ Catchments, Brisbane City Council, Arcsoft GIS  software and volunteer members, Rebecca emphasised the results of efforts so far. A specialised GPS was also purchased using funds generated from The Piccabeen Bookshop which will now improve accuracy.

Doug White, Brian Davison and several site coordinators gave reports of progress in various areas including the Bookshop results. The Education subcommittee is revamping various presentations.

Honorary Life Membership
Jaap Vogel is to be nominated for an Honorary Life Membership which will be considered at a management committee meeting at a later date.

Motion to restructure regeneration subcommittee
A motion was put to suggest a restructure of the Regeneration subcommittee. The inclusion of site coordinators as members of this new committee formed part of this motion. Further discussions resolved that as the management committee has already had extensive discussions and implemented planning for similar reviews, a working committee will make note of this new proposal to restructure of the Regeneration committee. The meeting resolved to form the working committee which will finalise the restructure. This working committee will be open to all members.

The meeting closed at approximately 12.30pm.
