Local resident and management committee member, Tony Lambert was appointed as president at the meeting of the management committee last night. Tony will maintain the role to chair meetings until the AGM in September.
A proposal to appoint Tony to the vacant executive position was carried early during the meeting and he immediately chaired the remaining duration of the meeting.
We thank Tony for volunteering his limited time to this crucial role of chairing meetings. Tony will also continue with his role of developing relationships with community groups and government institutions. A long time supporter of TM Landcare, Tony is very keen to meet the many volunteers and learn more about the organisation's achievements and objectives.
The managment committee meeting discussed and carried the earlier motion proposed and carried at the June 1 general meeting to purchase specialised GPS equipment for digital mapping. The general meeting motion required the management committee to finally consider the viability and affordability of the purchase. This purchase from TM Landcare's own funds required very careful consideration and was carried after indepth discussions. See more information about this purchase in other news items.
New Treasurer: John Tiley's resignation from treasurer further required the appointment of Anthony Bailey as treasurer. Anthony has been managing accounts receiveable / payable and the banking of cash received from the bookshop. Thanks John for your continued support and welcome to Anthony. Anthony is from the banking industry and will confidently manage this role. Thanks Anthony for volunteering your time and effort to this task.
The Piccabeen Awards will continue with a call for nominations soon and awards presented at the AGM.
AGM: The annual general meeting will be on Sunday, September 7th 2008 at 10am. The venue is proposed at Eagle Heights Resort but is yet to be confirmed.
