Task Force Meeting
Task Force Meeting
3 June 2008
Summary:
It was a lively meeting with good represenation from the member groups.  Scenic Rim Regional Council representation is yet to be settled, but Luke Vogler from the Parks and Recreation Branch attended to ensure someone from Council was there.  QPWS, Rainforest Trust and Natural History Association reps weren’t able to attend.
The main purpose of these meetings is to keep each other up to date on current projects and to see how we may help each other out.
Cornelia updated the group on the numerous projects being undertaken by TML with the following discussed in detail:
1) Biodiversity Mapping
Rebecca Castley talked about this work and showed some of the outcomes to date.  This work was highly supported, particularly by SEQ Catchments as giving TML quite an edge when it comes to planning and reporting projects.
2) Corridors Regeneration Project
Wilson Rd Wetland is about to start up with landholders meeting to be held on 14th of June
3) Green Domain
Back on the books – to be revisited and updated – target of 3 landholders for 2008.
4) Education & Awareness
Green talks have been well attended – two delivered to date. A new venue and better advertising should increase attendance.
Council support:
Scenic Rim RC will see if they can make available some high resoultion imagery to assist Rebecca’s mapping efforts.  Addtionally, both SRRC and SEQ Catchments have undertaken to provide Dorean Erhart (TM Landcare management committee member) with up to date information on what assistance is currently available for private land owners.
Don Gibson of Conservation Volunteers Australia mentioned that Toyota sponsor his organisation to undertake a number of workshops, with one being delivered in Beaudesert in August (details will be available via newsflash).   Don also mentioned that he’s willing to speak at one of TML’s future Greentalks.
Steve Lyngcoln (SEQ Catchments) informed the group that he’d been contacted by the office of the Hon. Tony Burke MP, Federal Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry who will be paying a visit to the region next week and was particularly keen to have a look at one of TM Landcare’s sites.  His portfolio is responsible for the main funding sources of most of the grants received by TM Landcare through SEQ Catchments. His visit will be a terrific opportunity to highlight the excellent work that’s being done with the money provided by the Federal Government and highlight the importance of this funding.
