Church gets into Nature

Phil Harrison's philosophy means that he belongs to two groups - Conservation Volunteers Australia and the Tamborine Community Church. Recently he encouraged his church community to try a new style of worship on a Sunday morning - planting trees on the periphery of the Tamborine Mountain Botanical Gardens.

With the assistance of a fellow CVA member Don, from Brisbane and two (Tamborine Mountain) Landcare members Wendy Morgan and Maureen Booth, the church group was given basic training in tree planting and weeding and safe work practice. The importance of the work in regenerating the forest area on the edge of the Gardens as part of the ecological corridor was explained.

As the job got done it was heartening to see the enthusiasm and team work evident across the range of ages from the children, teenagers and adults in the group. Great work, everyone!
