| While our President, Jaap Vogel’s health continues to improve, he has decided to resign as President of the organisation, and from the management committee. Jaap requires more time to ensure he can get the rest he needs in order to recover from extensive treatments over the last few months. His resignation was reluctantly accepted at the meeting of management committee members last night at St Bernards Hotel.
In his resignation statement to the committee, Jaap described his feeling of regret for having to resign his position, and expressed his enthusiasm for the future of the organisation. Jaap will be happy to offer his advice and assistance where possible on a consultancy basis.
Jaap’s influence is evident throughout the organisation, especially in the positive results from his networking skills which brought so much support from major funding institutions. Together with direct input from volunteers, this support ultimately lead to the positive results on the environment right here on Tamborine Mountain. His personal passion.
The resigning President's last message to the committee referred to the strong financial position of the association and the need for this funding to be apportioned quickly and directly to further the efforts of forest rehabilitation within the Corridors Regeneration Project.
We thank both Jaap and Jedda for their enormous sacrifice and efforts in leading the growth of Tamborine Mountain Landcare for the last 4 years. |
