Town planners get down & dirty
SIXTEEN young people who work for the Gold Coast City Council, mainly as subdivision town planners carpooled it up to Tamborine Mountain last week for a very different work day.
As an exercise in 'team-building' the group decided to look for an opportunity, outside the usual corporate-style choices. Wanting to "give something back to the public", they contacted Tamborine Mountain Landcare and organized to plant 250 native trees at the Plunkett Creek site (area between the dog park and the road leading down from Doughty Park).
Landcare members Jim and Jenny Peat were onhand to demonstrate good planting technique. A morning's digging, planting, mulching and watering has made a significant contribution to this area in terms of regeneration whilst providing the townplanners with a meaningful team and personal experience.
