Prizes, Puppets and Private Property Plans

 

On 28 July you will enjoy yourself at the Library North Tamborine with information desks, slide shows, presentation, a puppet theatre and much more.

 

Market at the library

9 am – noon; outdoor activities might last a bit longer into the afternoon

Ø       Puppet theatre about wildlife, dogs and cats

Ø       Information about Quolls on Tamborine Mountain with at 10.30 even a LIVE quoll

Ø       Information desk about the largest subtropical rainforest area in the world: the (almost World heritage) Border Ranges – and we’re part of it!

Ø       Information desk by local traditional owners

Ø       Landcare and TM NHA desk with membership information, projects and opportunities for volunteering

Ø       Sausage sizzle by the TM Rotary Club

 

Special events at the Library

Ø       9 – 12: Launch of Green Domain, a support program for private land holders. You wonder how to start revegetation on your property? Than Green Domain is of interest for you; pop in and get more information.

Ø       9 – 12 at Library: information about Landcare’s new digital weed and flora aerial mapping system, with a special presentation at 10 am.

Ø       11 am: Announcement winner Tiles for Trees by Sandy Baillie and Bronwyn Davies

Ø       11 am: Announcement winners Critters Competition and launch of the display of winning pictures.

 

Afternoon: three field workshops

Learn more about revegetation on ground. The successful regeneration project at the Botanical Gardens is a lesson for everyone involved in regeneration, from the smallest residential to the largest properties. The successful Botanic Gardens project also celebrates the completion of its first stage.

o        12 – 1 pm: Nature Refuge.
Guided walk over Numala, the upmarket residential development on the Eastern Escarpment. Learn about the first Nature Refuge project on the mountain. Meet at 12 noon at the Numala gate, Eastern end of Curtis Road

o        1.30 – 2.30 pm: The Corridor
Celebration of finalizing stage 1 of the Botanical Gardens Regen Project at the Botanical Gardens. Guided walk starts at 1.30 from the Bot. Gardens car park

o        3 - 4 pm: Former farm
Guided walk over a 5 acres private property three years into revegetation; learn about the problems, struggles and solutions of an ordinary property holder without specific knowledge of native revegetation. Meet at 3 pm at the gate, 74-82 West Road (enter West Road from Long Road).

 

All activities are free.

Private land holders willing to revegetate or regenerate part of their property should use this day to collect information about opportunities for support, in advice, protection, labor or finances. At the library you may talk to Landcare representatives about Green Domain, the support program. The field workshops / walks offer opportunities to experiences chances and problems with revegetation. The Green Domain program has been established by the Task Force Tamborine mountain, including TM landcare and SEQ-Catchments.
