Just for your information some good news from TM Landcare. Thanks Ray for volunteering today at the first Sunday opening of Piccabeen. With a turn over of over $ 100 it was a very good result, considering that we have not started up the promotion campaign yet. And…. a new ‘Sunday-volunteer’ applied as well! Other good news is that we will have two on ground CVA-teams for free this fortnight, on top of the two, already booked in, GreenCorps teams. That works out as about 160 DAYS of free labour mainly on Council ground in just over two weeks only (market value @ $25/hour about $ 25,000 – 30,000). I will send a thank you letter to CVA for their generosity. This free labour will also be taken into account when we apply for future funding, and thus it will help us in that sense as well. Last week we met Phil Harrison and Don Gibson of CVA and also then it was clear that the partnership is very strong and positive. May I also thank all of you being involved in the on ground work? Without you, as volunteers and co-ordinators we would never be able accepting and managing these free (and other) groups. You are so well organized that we are capable of guiding these groups to great outcomes on ground. The results are visible all over the mountain. Doug and Cornelia, it’s great you never say ‘NO’ and manage all these activities so well! The involvement of Doug makes a real difference; we sincerely hope that Council will continue supporting Landcare with the project officer. The management and executive committees don’t take all these achievements for granted, nor does the membership. Each and every activity and outcome is the result of voluntary labor by local residents of the mountain, members of Landcare. You’re doing a great job! Thanks a lot, cheers, Jaap President TM Landcare |
